About
About Lions and Valentines
I’m Hannah, the owner and creator behind Lions and Valentines. I find endless inspiration in nature—how flowers bloom, how plants thrive in the wild. Everything I observe in the world around me influences my approach to floral design, infusing it with a natural, organic beauty.
My Journey to Floristry
Growing up, I was always surrounded by the beauty of flowers, nurtured by the wild, abundant gardens of my mother and grandmother. My creative journey, however, began 24 years ago as a Makeup Artist. Over the years, while immersed in the world of makeup artistry, I discovered another passion: floristry. This new calling led me to Northern Ireland, where I pursued formal training and honed my floral design skills. Now, based near Paeroa in the rural Waikato-Coromandel region of New Zealand, I’ve brought my dream to life with Lions and Valentines.
A Balancing Act: Florist, Makeup Artist, and Mum
Life is busy, but wonderfully so. For the past 13 years, I’ve balanced my work as a florist with my continued passion for makeup artistry, primarily focused on weddings. At the same time, I’ve been growing Lions and Valentines while embracing my most cherished role as a mother to my two sons. Building this business has been a journey filled with love, creativity, and balance, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see it flourish.
My Creative Philosophy
At Lions and Valentines, each arrangement is crafted to tell a story. I believe in creating pieces that brighten lives, evoke emotions, and make moments special. Whether it’s weddings, retail displays, reality TV sets, or custom gifts, every project is an opportunity to craft something truly unique. I’m committed to using seasonal and locally sourced flowers as much as possible, supporting local growers to ensure our designs reflect the vibrant beauty of the seasons while prioritizing sustainability.
Let’s Bring Your Vision to Life
